Furniture Manufacturing in Vietnam: Buyer FAQ

Working With Satori Furniture

What information should I provide when contacting Satori Furniture about a furniture program?

Start with whatever product information is available. Satori Furniture can review complete furniture schedules, drawings and specifications, or earlier-stage concepts, sketches and reference images. The objective of the initial review is to understand the product, materials, scope and information needed for quotation and development.

Yes. We support custom product development from an idea, sketch, reference or brief, then develops the product through engineering, prototyping and production preparation. Complete drawings are not required to begin the conversation.

OEM starts with the buyer’s established drawings, specifications or samples and prepares them for reliable manufacturing. ODM starts from Satori Furniture’s existing production-proven collections and allows customization of materials, finishes, dimensions, hardware, fabrics and other specifications. Custom product development starts from an idea, sketch, reference or brief and develops a new product through engineering, prototyping and production preparation.

Satori Furniture’s ODM offering allows existing production-proven products to be customized in materials, finishes, dimensions, hardware, fabrics and other specifications for the buyer’s brand and market.

Yes, where the construction and product concept support it. For example, a chair concept can be evaluated for related counter-stool or bar-stool development. The specific engineering, proportions and production requirements are reviewed for each derivative product.

Samples, Prototypes & Approvals

Does Satori Furniture prepare shop drawings?

Yes. Satori Furniture develops detailed construction drawings from the approved design intent and technical specifications. These drawings define exact dimensions, joinery details and material callouts and, once approved, become the definitive reference for fabrication and quality control.

The standard lead time is approximately 10 working days once the required product information is complete. More complex products or programs may require additional development time.

Yes. Depending on the product and development stage, Satori Furniture can prepare material and finish samples and physical prototypes. These are used to confirm materials, finish, construction, proportions and overall execution before the product is released for mass production.

Timing depends primarily on the number and complexity of SKUs. The current planning guide is approximately 4–5 weeks for fewer than 5 SKUs, 5–7 weeks for fewer than 10 SKUs, and 7–10 weeks for fewer than 20 SKUs.

Furniture samples are generally priced at 200% of the quoted FOB unit price because sample development involves one-off setup, engineering and production work. Any sample-cost credit against a subsequent production order is confirmed in the commercial proposal.

Approval happens in layers before a product is released for mass production. Depending on the program, this includes approved technical drawings, materials and finish samples, construction/whitewood review, and the completed prototype or production sample. The final approved sample, together with the approved technical specifications, becomes the reference for mass production and quality control.

Production & Quality Control

How long does mass production normally take?

Mass production is typically planned at approximately 10–14 weeks after the required approvals are complete. Actual timing depends on the product construction, materials and finishes, order volume, number of SKUs, raw-material availability, production loading, testing requirements and any special packaging or hardware requirements. The confirmed lead time is established for each order before production begins.

Satori Furniture controls quality throughout the manufacturing process rather than relying only on a final inspection. Our eight quality checkpoints are: 1) Raw Materials, 2) Technical Drawings, 3) Prototype Approval, 4) Whitewood Assembly, 5) Finishes Application, 6) Final Assembly, 7) Pre-Packaging QC Check, and 8) Packaging Verification. At each stage, critical details are checked against the approved specifications so issues can be identified and corrected before they move further through production.

Satori Furniture ‘s process uses RFIs, submittals, live Zoom meetings and QC reporting as needed so technical questions, approvals and production information can be handled directly throughout the program.

MOQ, Orders & Commercial Terms

What is Satori Furniture 's minimum order quantity?

Our standard order basis is one full container, with up to five mixed SKUs. Minimum quantities also vary by product category and production setup; as a working guide, casegoods may start around 30 units per model and chairs around 100 units per model. During early product or market testing, we can work with customers on practical quantities where the materials, finishes and production setup allow it. Final MOQs are confirmed by product and program.

Yes. Satori Furniture can combine multiple SKUs within a full-container order. Our standard working framework allows up to five mixed SKUs per container, subject to the practical MOQ for each model, material, finish and production setup. For initial product or market testing, we can review more flexible combinations with the customer where production conditions allow.

Satori Furniture quotations are currently valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated in the commercial proposal.

Our standard starting payment structure is 50% deposit with the purchase order and 50% balance before shipment. Commercial terms may be adjusted by agreement depending on the customer relationship, order size, program structure and other commercial considerations, with the final terms confirmed in the quotation or sales agreement.

Materials & Manufacturing Capabilities

What materials can Satori Furniture manufacture with?

Satori Furniture works across solid wood, natural and engineered veneers, plywood, MDF and other engineered panels, melamine and laminates, upholstery, metal, stone and mixed-material construction. Wood programs can include species such as oak, ash, walnut, acacia, rubberwood and others depending on the product and sourcing requirements. Metal capabilities include iron, steel, stainless steel and aluminum with finishes such as paint, powder coating and PVD. Stone options can include natural stone, quartz and sintered stone. Upholstery programs can incorporate fabrics, performance fabrics and leather according to the product and destination-market requirements. Final material specifications are selected around design intent, performance, compliance, availability and target cost.

Yes. Satori Furniture can source and develop upholstery programs using performance fabrics, including stain-resistant options and lighter colors. Fabric selection is made according to the required appearance, performance, cleanability, durability, testing requirements and destination market. Customer-specified fabrics can also be evaluated as part of the program.

Yes. Satori Furniture can produce stainless-steel furniture components and accessories with PVD finishes through specialized production capabilities. Multiple PVD colors and surface effects, including brushed and mirrored finishes, can be developed depending on the product and approved sample.

Satori Furniture develops and manufactures furniture across casegoods, tables, seating, upholstery, outdoor furniture and selected specialist products and accessories. Core categories include sideboards, cabinets and storage; coffee, side and dining tables; dining chairs, counter stools and bar stools; sofas, lounge chairs, benches and other upholstered pieces; outdoor furniture; and pots and planters. We also evaluate custom products and mixed-material items based on their construction, materials and production requirements.

Packaging, Freight & Logistics

What is the difference between fully assembled, KD, and nested furniture packaging?

Furniture can be packed in different assembly formats depending on the product, destination and customer’s distribution model. Fully assembled furniture ships ready to use but normally occupies more container volume. Knock-down (KD) furniture is engineered so major components can be disassembled and packed more efficiently for transport, then assembled at destination. Nested packing places compatible components or products within one another to reduce unused carton volume. Satori Furniture works with the customer to select or engineer the appropriate construction and packaging format, balancing freight efficiency with product strength, assembly requirements and protection in transit.

Packed CBM is calculated from the final carton dimensions and carton quantity for each product. During development, Satori Furniture first establishes the intended assembly and packaging method, then prepares a packing configuration and carton specification. Once the packaging is validated, the packed dimensions are used to calculate unit and carton CBM and to estimate container quantities. Container-loading plans can then be optimized using loading calculations/software, taking into account carton dimensions, orientation, container type, floor loading or pallets where required, weight distribution and practical loading clearances. Early CBM and loading quantities should therefore be treated as estimates until the final product and packaging are approved.

Yes. Satori Furniture can develop packaging for retail, wholesale and e-commerce distribution. We can work to an existing customer packaging protocol or help develop an appropriate solution based on the product, distribution channel and destination market. This can include KD or partially assembled construction, compact carton design, internal protection, hardware and instruction packs, carton labeling and other requirements. The objective is to improve container efficiency and landed-cost economics without compromising product protection or the customer experience.

Satori Furniture normally sells on an FOB basis. We develop and control the product packaging required for shipment and can also assist customers with freight coordination through trusted logistics partners when requested. The final shipping arrangement is agreed with the customer for each order.

Testing, Compliance & Warranty

Is third-party testing included in Satori Furniture 's pricing?

Third-party testing is not included unless requested. When required for a product or destination market, it can be arranged separately and billed accordingly.

Yes. For EU-bound programs, Satori Furniture can source EUDR-traceable wood, MDF and veneer through suppliers able to provide the required origin, geolocation and due-diligence documentation. Because compliance depends on the selected material and its specific supply chain, documentation is verified during final material selection. For other markets, programs can also be specified around applicable composite-wood and material-emissions requirements, including U.S. requirements such as TSCA Title VI / CARB Phase 2 where relevant. Product- and market-specific testing or documentation is confirmed for each program rather than assumed universally.

The current standard warranty is one year from the invoice date and covers manufacturing defects.
